Default eqhost.txt

When i try and change it to get the actual game set up it tells me that I need to make sure that the path and file name is correct. Am i doing something wrong?

I am going to try uninstalling everything and seeing if that works since at one point I was using a different private server and it may have messed something up.

What, specifically, are you trying to do?

I am trying to change the eqhost.txt file to set up the game. The setup page told me to delete the contents of the file and add:

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

So i did and its telling me I can't save it.

You probably don't have permissions to save files in that directory then.

If you are running Windows 7 log in as an administrator then right-click notepad and select "Run as administrator". Try to edit and save the file with this copy of notepad.
