Question I want to help... but how ?

Hey,

I've been playing around a lot lately with quests, and playing the game on
my own server.

Well, tonight I made a Barbarian beastlord in Halas and I noticed that the NPC
quests don't really seem too complete.

For example, the Field Priest Keven is supposed to say "There you are. I have
been waiting for you. Are you ready to begin your training? With my help you
will be able to command a great beast to become your most trusted
companion. Read the note in your inventory and hand it to me when you are
ready to begin your training." when hailed for the first time. He currently
says "Hello, I am the guild master." I know it's a lot of work to update these,
but I don't mind, just want to make sure I submit it the right way

I went to some sites like Zam and another one (i forget name) and found the
dialog for some of the NPCs and made the changes in a couple quest files.
I'd like to help out where I can by submitting my changes to the official SVN,
but I cannot commit. I know not just anyone can commit to those
databases, but who do I talk to about getting that kind of access, or if not,
how can I submit many files to be included ?

In the meantime, I'll silently make the edits and updates to the files I have.

Thanks,

Michael

For database and scripting work, you really want to discuss that on the PEQ forums. I think quest submissions or fixes probably get posted in this section:

Ok, thanks for the reply...

So, the quest section here is for custom quests that other players make up
and submit ?

Also, what can I do if I notice an NPC is not where there should be? I'm in
Halas looking for Artisan Kjell Sunrunner and she is not there. ( I just noticed
this person is from the Dragons era.... Is the emulator up to that point yet ?)

Sorry to be such a bother, lol.... I'd just lie to help out if I can.

I'll check out the peq site tomorrow and see what I can do there.

Thanks,

Michael

Well, there are a couple alternative databases (at least AXClassic) besides just PEQ, but PEQ is the most commonly used. If you are using PEQ quests and Database, then you are best off posting there about issues you find in the DB and quests. They have sections for submitting quest stuff or DB stuff, you just need to look around and familiarize yourself with their forums a bit and maybe read some of their stickies about submitting.

We do have quest sections here and some are for questions, some are for custom stuff, and some are for submitting official quests as well. But, as far as official quests from Live go, it is best to submit them directly to PEQ I think.

These forums are more for stuff directly related to the EQEmu Source Code, troubleshooting servers/players, and general stuff that might be useful for other server admins. Things like custom quests are here so other server admins can see examples of ideas or use the quests for their own server, or whatever.

Unless things have changed, I think cavedude monitors the quest submission forums here as well. I've submitted all mine that way.
