Default Can I Use SOD Yet?

I have been reading all over the place trying to decode whether I can start using Seeds of Destruction client yet. I am only posting this question because of the different types of conversations about this...mainly focusing on public servers...so...here goes...

Can I simply upgrade to EQEmu 1410 and PEQ 1401 and use the Private Login server from EQEMuLS with the SOD client?

Right now I am running EQEmu 1264 with the Private Login server and SOF client. Do I need to wait yet until moving to SOD?

As long as you use the latest stuff, SoD should work just fine. Though, make sure you are using the latest Login Server source as well. Also, make sure you add in any database stuff from the /utils/sql/svn/ folder if needed.

Where do I get the "Login Server source"? I went to EQEMuLS and they just have a single download...no source download.

Login Server source is included with the server source, under trunk > EQEmuServer > EQEmuLoginServer

After you compile the project there, if you're on Windows check out step 7 of the setup guide here:
http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29043

Some of the file names are different now though, it's just login.ini. I originally had an issue where the login server would start and immediately shut down because it was missing one of the opcode files, I had to open up a command prompt and run it through that so the window would stay open and tell me which file was missing.

SoD is my full time client now, it's shaped up very nicely very quickly, so enjoy!

Wait...I believe Djeryv is talking about DevNoob's compile of the login server (PrivateLogin) and not EQEmuLoginServer.exe?

Or am I confused?

As far as I know KLS was working on a public compiled release of EQEmuLoginServer.exe.

Yes I was...but...I am willing to go with this EQEmuLoginServer...but...i get missing opcode error when I try to run it. I have the files in the root of the EQEmu server folder...but the binary I have is from July of 2009. Does anyone have a more recent compiled binary that works with the login.ini because the binary I currently have wants the eqemulogin.ini file ( I know because it would finally read my ini file when I changed the name from login.ini to eqemulogin.ini).

I think you would need to compile it from source using Visual C++ 2008 express. the compiled one on googlecode is a bit outdated and it wasn't open sourced so I don't think it's compatible with the one that is in svn now. I could be wrong tho. I compiled mine when it became open source a month or two ago and it works great for considering that I'm only playing on my computer and using the LAN to use only in my home. I have not had a problem once i figured out the configuration. BTW, should probably wait until the dev fixed the problems of eqemulogin that are a bit buggy atm.

Does anyone have a recent compiled EQEmuLoginServer they can send me, or maybe instructions on how to compile? I already have Visual C++ 2008 express installed (as I compile my own WOW server)...but it appears that EQEmu stuff is not as simple to compile as a WOW server (WOW server you simply just pick RELEASE and then BUILD and you are done).

UPDATE: I have the file I need now. Now that I got that EQEmuLoginServer.exe file, I have a working SOD server running. Maybe, whoever does the builds on the google site, should also compile the EQEmuLoginServer with the rest of the binaries for us non-compiling folks to use. Since I don't compile, I simply wait until they are released to download and then do a server upgrade. Thanks!

djeryv,
Where did you find the precompiled binary that works with the login.ini? I have been banging my head against a wall trying to compile and getting no where fast.

Thanks!

I'm also desperately trying to resolve this issue. If someone could forward me an up to date compile of eqemuloginserver.exe OR some instructions for compiling under VS2010, I'd be super appreciative.
