Default Non No-Drop Server? (FV style)

Hey folks - this is my first post here (iirc) and I have been spending most of my time on PEQ and Project 1999 (both great servers in their regard). My question is a simple one - and after doing a search I wanted to get clarification. I played on Firiona Vie for years and found it fit very well with my play style with the non-no drop ruleset. I'm curious as to why the non-no drop ruleset isn't more common on EQemu servers and if it's possible to make a server similar to FV. A RL bud and I were chatting the other day and thought that perhaps in the future it might be feasible for us to set up a server with a FV style ruleset - but if there are some quality ones already out there, then no need. Any thoughts on this and or if it's possible to set one up this way?

Thanks much.

I don't know that non-no-drop thing matters if either: your server population is as low as most 'legit' emulated servers, or your content is as trivial as a lot of the 'custom' emulated servers.

There are many other aspects of the old FV ruleset that I loved; but, of course, the lack of no-drop is the only one that Live retained...

Thanks guys. Any info on how hard it is ( or isn't) to remove the no drop from all/most items on a server? I might try this in the future to play with when PEQ is down

Trivial loot code was something that went into effect for a while on Firiona Vie I believe that it prevented loot from showing up on a mob if the character who'd killed it was over a certain level - basically preventing/discouraging high level characters from farming lower level mobs.

Thanks also - got my answer about how to change a server from having any no-trade items in the Developer forum.

Happy gaming!

The Realm, Congdar's BoT test server, runs with No-Drop and Lore tags disabled.
