Have you tried changing to windowed mode or adjusting your resolution on your desktop and/or eqclient.ini file? The FAQ in my sig might have some suggestions for you.

Quote:
DirectX Version: DirectX 10
Also, did you make sure to install the DirectX 9c that comes with EQ? DX10 alone will not work for EQ.

Default change rez

I read somewhere about the client not running out of a 86x filder and i had it on drive D or E i forget so am swapping it all over to drive C atm, as far as resolution goes. I dont know that it matter (i could be wrong) because i am launching in windowed mode. If it doesnt work after transfering to drive C i will play with rez on desktop and in client file and let you know.

Ok, so change desktop resolution to 3 most common and nothing Changed client res in Full screen to match Desktop all 3 times, got rid of windowed mode string to try full screen went back to windowed and didnt work (Also noticed during full screen after server sleect it auto windowd mode again before going back to log-in) then on windowed I played with 800X600 up to 1280X768 and still nothing, I also re formated Runfirst to run off of the new C Drive version of the cleint and nothing.
Any more ideas?

as far as DX 9.0C I tried but where can i get the HKEy root files? I have the install kit but not the reg kit. Anyone able to point that out I didnt want to deleate the reg files withrouth that kit.
Reason im asking is because you cannot overide DX10, DX comes with perviouse version but misses some files here and there based one what I have read. allot of the d3d_28.DLL to I think 30 or so is missing. and the only way I can overide it is in the HKEY files. This Link shows you how to do it- http://www.ehow.com/how_6027028_reve...directx-9.html

You don't need to mess with the DX10 install, just install DX9c over what you have and both will work fine.

You may want to try updating your video card drivers and see if that helps. Also, do you happen to be playing from a location other than your own house where you own the modem/router yourself? If so, and if you are playing through a proxy like at work or school/dorm, it may be a proxy issue with blocking port 5998. You might want to check your router and make sure it is ok.

Also, have you tried more than just 1 server? Maybe the server you are trying is the cause of the problem. I would generally recommend trying PEQ as a test base, since all clients should always be able to connect to it, but since it is down, I would recommend trying a few different servers, and probably mostly the ones from the preferred list as recommended. Some servers use a custom spell file (or other custom files) and sometimes requiring custom files can cause clients to not connect properly for whatever reason, but that is normally only after you reach character select.

Have you tried completely uninstalling EQ and deleting the EQ folder and then installing it again, yet? That may help if there is any chance you patched even a little while trying to get setup for the first time.

I havnt been playing anywhere else, I am doing a fresh install form CD at the moment, I hade tried other server and it didnt work. Im considering I might have goofed something up somewhere for me to be doing this much digging. So we will see what a fresh install does.

Yeah, EZ server has a custom spell file (and maybe other custom files I don't know of offhand), but you should still at least be able to reach the char select if that was the cause of the problem. Generally the spell file doesn't cause an issue, but sometimes it can.

Ok, so a complete fresh install only Cliente.ini files and host files were changed to connect to EQemu. I tried it withouth Runfrist and nothing, tried with Runfirst, nothing, Tried Compatability with Windows xp SP2 nothing, tried full screen nothing. Right now I am downloading the newest possible video drivers to see if that works.
I had been connected through a router before and now I am connect directly to my moden, is the matter of a blocked port still possible?
If so could you explain to me how to check that port, would be wonderfull =D

And Thanks Trevazar for takeing the time to help me with this.
