Default Using Linux - No servers appear

Hi all,

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 (Ibex) and trying to run eq through wine to sign into the PEQ server. I followed the instructions on the wineHQ website (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=2939), adding a local copy of d3dx9_30.dll and editing my .ini file. I also followed the eqemu instructions on changing the EQHost.txt file to include Host=eqemulator.net:5998, and added ["C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme] to the shortcut. I am able to get into the login screen, but when I get to server selection, no servers show up, just a blank list. I am running on a macbook and have not yet fixed the dualcore problem (I thought I'd cross that bridge when I got there). I never ran the patcher. I was not able to find anyone else with this specific problem; has anyone seen this before or have any guesses as to what might be causing it? Thanks,

ccor

Default update

A strange thing happened:

I logged in, without changing anything (to my knowledge) and was able to see the servers. I wasn't able to select any other than the one in the middle because the mouse does not move (a known bug with eq/wine; does anyone know the keystrokes to change between servers?). I logged back out (without trying to go to char select) and logged back in and the server screen is blank again. Any ideas?

Well I am not running a mac but vista ultimate 32bit and I get the same problem (not mouse issue) with no server list. I'm still searching the forums and there might be an answer.

My one Linux box has that problem, I never solved it. The workaround is to log out, and log back in until the list shows

Maybe one of these threads could help you a bit:

SoF and Wine
http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27458

Titanium and Wine
http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/showthread.php?t=26984

Other than that, I have heard that wine sucks for EQ and there are better alternatives out there, but I can't think of the names offhand atm.

Im dealing with this issue right now via WINE too...

But from what I see lots of other people are getting blank server lists and using Windows.

Makes me wonder if it is the same LS problem or if our installations are giving a bad client version or something?

What I've just found is it might def be a problem with poor drivers...

For example, if I connect hardwired to my router, everything works fine.

If I connect wirelessly, server select goes blank. Also experienced connection drops and sometimes generally poor performance when running wirelessly... I think this is due to poor driver support of my wireless NIC. I say this because my girlfriend has the same wireless NIC in her laptop and has the same exact problem.
