Default timeout error

getting to the login page, but after entering usernam/passw

i get a timeout error.

I then rechked eqhost file and found this....

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5999

[LoginServer]
Host=xp-smitchell:7308
Host1=


will try deleting the mitchell thingy, and try again. I didnt add that...wheres it come from?

Sounds like it comes from an illegally downloaded client installation to me.

no i didnt download anything.

was trying to use eq install i had on an old hdd. circa march 2009

Would something patched then be too recent?

the 2nd line keeps reappearing whenever i try and log on.

should i try and use the small login thingy?

The xp-mitchell thing is a default that the client inserts when it can't interpret the contents of your eqhost.txt file.

It used to be the case that any trailing spaces at the end of the lines would cause this, so go to each line and press the 'End' key and delete any trailing spaces if there are any.

Also, using some random client version probably isn't going to work and if it does, it is possible that there will at least be some bugs with it that will never be resolved since that specific version won't be supported. EQEmu is designed to work with very specific client versions as detailed in the getting started Wiki page.
