At this point most enjoyable mechanics have been demoed and toyed with and the only thing truly original to be found is content. New takes on existing mechanics and ideas compose the backbone of some of the most popular servers and that's not a bad thing.

At least let him get his implementation out there before you start crapping all over his work.
