I see you made some posts in 2011 about the same thing.

Anyway, the "conundrum" is that the eqemu databases have changed a lot over time. For example tables/columns have been added/removed/merged/etc. So stock emu server source doesnt play nice with older versions of a database.

So people who have done tons of database work in the past to "classicize" a database most likely wont be compatible with the new source therefore people default to the "out of the box" peq database and spend 3-4 years removing content out of the database that they dont want.

Basically people dont hand out classic DBs because things change so often in the server source on how it handles the data tossed around in the database.

Going forward, peq could make a column to designate expansions in certain tables to make it easier to restrict expansion related content, but I have no idea on their motivation to do so. Its kind of a big job in itself but its basically offloaded to whoever runs their own server and what content they want to allow/disallow.
