Default Computer restarts everytime I click "Play EQ" from

I read the README that came with EQW and it said PATCH. THEN, I read the readme on the forums and it said DONT PATCH. So I didn't patch and I tried playing EQ. It said I need directX 6.0 or higher. So I get directX v8.1 and download it. Now, everytime I start up EQW no matter what selection I choose (aka Test Server : Fix : Patch : or none ) it restarts my computer. Any idea whats up?

This sounds like more of a hardware problem that anything else. If you know what your doing you might want to check that the ram, video card, sound card etc.. are all seated properlly with minimal "wiggly."

if not already done, try the latest version of eqwindows (2.3 IIRC).

if you cant play on live (for technical reasons, not because you dont have an active acc't), you wont be able to use the emu too

had this same problem so , its the refresh rates... i solved by downloading new ati drivers they have a refresh rate override that fixes this prob with EQ WC3 and a few other games... i dont know what video card you have but if you not running WXP try switching your refresh rate to adapter default
