Default Trouble starting zones

I can get on people's servers just fine on gotfrags, but when I try to run my own, I get problems. I get my server up on the select screen and it says there are 5 zone servers up. When I try to get on, I can get past the making a character and everything, but when I try to enter the world it bumps me back to the server select screen.

Zoneserver Says:
Map: Maps\cabeast.map not found.
Reading zhdr file './cfg/cabeast.cfg'
-----------------
Zone Server 'cabeast' listening on port:9002
-----------------
New client from ip: 127.0.0.1 port:1313
Login packet 1
Login packet 2
Client dropped: GetAuthentication = 0, n=Playername
Dropping client: Process=false, ip=127.0.0.1, port 1313
Automatic shutdown
Message:-----SERVER SHUTDOWN-----
Zone shutdown: going to sleep

then it sits back in sleep mode.......it does that each time I try to connect

and the Worldserver says:

Attempting autobootup of 'cabeast' for Playername
Zoneserver Setzone: 127.0.0.1:9002 cabeast
Enter world: Playername: cabeast
Zoneserver Setzone:127.0.0.1:9002 cabeast
Client disconnected
Removing client from ip:(my IP) port:1311
Zoneserver Setzone: 127.0.0.1:9002

when I deleted eqmain.dll and tried that way, I got the exact same thing.... Help, please? And thanks in advance =P

deleting eqmain is an OLD OLD method that no longer works.

1. patch to current
2. download and use the .2.2 emu
3. make sure ALL ip address info is correct for YOUR setup
4. if you get this msg, try deleting the char, creating a new one, log off, log on, log in.

any ?s come back with specific info =)

Sorry to say I am having the same exact problem. Everything seems to be working but for some reason it just can't seem to find the maps and cfg files. Any other words of wisdom that could fix this. I am attaching my files and renaming bat and ini files to txt for you to look at.

One place where I've seen that error is if you connect to the world server with a different IP address than 127.0.0.1 but still start the zone server with parameters of 127.0.0.1. If your system has multiple IP addresses you might try starting zone w/the other address(es).

1. map files don't exist. The lack of such files does not hurt your server at all.

2. cfg directory is missing for 0.2.2, get the files from 0.2.1.

But whatever problem you are experiencing has nothing to do with either maps or cfg files.

I had the same problem with my server for a while, then i figured out it's not on the server end, it's the client

Did you patch eq to the latest version, because if you did, i hope you made a backup, i COULD NOT get it to work with new patch
once i went back to older version of SOL, used eqw 2.21, it worked just fine!

Default 187 reads and no one has yet to help!!

Is anyone working on this???? Any developer working on this or has seen this issue???????? If so it would be real nice to reply or to at least let some of us know that this is a known issue with the new client.

I have sniffed the link between my server and my PC and the communication stops at the logon server. The client tries to send a packet and fails because the zone server does'nt rely. I know this is the new patch for the client but can someone please reply with a fix of some sort.

Yeah this is kinda a bummer. Was looking forward to putting my new T1 to use serving both a login and large scale world server. If anyone knows how to fix this prob and needs some free services im more then willing to learn how to run a login / world server.

-Thanks

Default Since no one seems to care

Well it looks like no one from the development staff has replied to this issue. Keeping an old client is not a valid work around because most newbies read the documentation and the first thing it says to do is patch your client.

I'll attempt to find out what the issue is. I think the new client is sending an additional packet of information to the zone server, which the zone doesn't know what to do with and shuts down. thus the client is not getting a valid return packet (or any reply) thus it disconnects.

I've ran a sniffer on the line and it looks like this to me. I will be debugging the code to see what the client is expecting and see if I can fix the issue.

I'll keep you all informed.
