In my dealing with eqemu I've found that problem to be linked to the files in the uifiles\default directory in EQ. I did find a fix, however it was just sending someone a copy of my dir and it seemed to fix their trouble.

I could be wrong but doesn't hurt to try, email saintmalicai@hotmail.com and I'll send you the zip (small file)

I was having this problem as well. It was indeed the files RevlinXevlin pointed out. eqfix didn't get all of these and my client was silently dying when it hit the char select page.

Also if you hit "Commit Changes" on the FQAdmin program it can screw up your database. I found this out the hard way, so I only use it as a handy viewer for all that stuff I don't need to change.

I got it to run past char select by doing a full file scan to get the latest eq patch (and recover any files I'd messed up trying to get it to work)

Then, when I installed eqfix, I left out the xml files... Everything worked fine after that...
