Default Possible bug with Alternate Advancement Abilities.

I saw a few posts about people complaining of zone crashes after character select with DR3, and downloaded telmets binaries to check out how stable it is so far.

I'd make a character, level it to 65, etc...then give it AAs. Everything worked great, until I logged out. As soon as I attempt to log that character in, it would crash as I was about to enter the world.

So I tested with another character, leveled it to 65, gave it AAs, logged out - same thing.

I then tested with just creating a character and not giving it AAs. I can enter/exit the world as often as I want without crashes.

Just a heads up of a possible bug, gonna do more testing with it tonight and see if maybe it's the unimplimented AAs causing it, or if it's just AAs in general.

I'll also try to post any errors I get, as it's not the ZONE itself crashing, it's the character.

EDIT: Here is the message:

Received Message SyncWorldTime
Time Broadcast Packet: EQTime [10:43am]
299020 New client from ip: xxx port=2671
Login packet 1 (OP_SetDataRate =
Unexpected packet during CLIENT_CONNECTING2: OpCode: 0xe841, size: 4
0: 00 00 00 41
Login packet 2
Loaded playerprofile for Xeldan - size: 8460/8460
Client dropped: !GetPlayerAlternateAdv, name=Xeldan
Dropping client: Process=false, ip=xxx, port=2671

That's the message I got when my character with AAs crashed on zoning into the world. Note once again, the zone itself didn't crash...the player did.

I tried the same thing on 4.1 and 4.2 (DRs 1, 2 and 3), and I got this as well. Not a pretty picture.

We probably should just disable AA points completely until we get the bugs worked out of it...

Well, when I read your post I thought that might have applied to the problems I was having with DR3, but when I tested it with a brand new character, it crashed the zone still. DR1 works, DR3 doesn't :(

EDIT: AA might be a problem after I manage to enter the world with my character, but I don't get that far.

EDIT2: Also, I didn't have that problem with AA in DR1.

Yeah, neither did I. It seems to have just started in DR3.

guess part of it is just something i did then. Disabling AA until yall can figure out what's wrong with it is a good idea, but it might piss off some people. It's your program though, and you can do what you want with it.

I can't even get AAs to work. I give the character AAs, open the AA window, chose an AA and hit train. Nothing happens. I don't lose the point, the AA is not aquired and train button goes inactive until I chose another AA. Any Ideas?

AA's don't work right - devs are aware. They may disable it completely in the future to avoid confusing bug reports. You probably didn't do anything wrong - bugfix is probably being researched.
