Multiple computers connect to LAN server

I finally got a version of 4.2 working with multiple computers on my LAN. I have 3-4 computers playing simultaneously in the same world now.

In order to get more than one in at a time, I had to give each computer an individual account ID in the database. I had seen posts where someone had added a 0 or a 1 to that field in the database so I just incremented for all the computers. It works fine for up to 4 computers, but I want to get 2 more connected.

Any insight to this account ID field in the account area of the database?

I've used 0-5 as the account IDs.

I was trying to find in the db where the computer names are listed to that I can add 1 to my list but to no avail. I know I must be missing something perhaps very simple.

I am running the server on my local network and I have 2 other computers attached to the same network.

I can run EQ on the same computer that is running as the server for EQ just fine. I try to load EQ on the other computers, and I just cant get it to connect. (error: 1001).

I am thinking the login ini file needs to be changed?

I keep searching the forums for keywords to "lan, computer, multiple, connection" but keep coming to this thread

Correct each account needs to be unique both in ID and name in the sql db.
The ip to name mapping is done In MiniLoginAccounts.ini it's format is

Client_ip "username" "password"

So let me make sure I understand you right.

The MiniLoginAccounts.ini should look like this:
(example)

194.100.1.100 is example for computer 1 connecting to the Home EQ Server (localhost)
194.100.1.101 is example for computer 2 connecting to the Home EQ Server (localhost)




194.100.1.100 myeqname myeqpassword
194.100.1.101 myeqname myeqpassword

(or with quotes?)

194.100.1.100 "myeqname" "myeqpassword"
194.100.1.101 "myeqname" "myeqpassword"

Small Question... where exactly IN the db does it say any information regarding Accounts that are flagged for GM Status or connectivity from another computer as per the first post in this thread? I see in the db "accounts", but listed in there doesnt seem anything familiar about "Computer 1", "Computer 2" or "Joeshmoe 200", etc.

Does something actually IN the Database need to state this or does it just come from the MiniLoginAccounts ini file?

Also was having trouble adding in Account names/pw's to tag for GM status. Is this also in the DB someplace? I tried the command found on a different thread and it seemed to only work for the Account: eqemu

If (for example) a friend came over and wanted to login to the server EQ here, I am guessing I just open a Command prompt and type:

(in the EQemu folder)

world.exe flag newfriend 200

this would "add" his name to the GM list right? How and where does the server know that his name (and password for that matter) is acceptable to use?

Is there a character limit for the account name length?

That computer's name is strongbehr (10 characters) and I keep getting this error:

<strongbehr PC IP address>: Wrong name/pass: name='strongbehrused'
Removing client from ip: <strongbehr PC IP address> port:1060

Any idea what that "wrong name/pass" error might be? And why it adds "used" to the end of the account login name?

I got the last computer to work on my LAN server.

It seems there was a character name limit and the "strongbehr" name wouldn't work for a login account. Maybe 10 characters is too long. I changed it to a 7 character account name and it works fine.

Ok, where to start..

I am running everything on the same machine. I can login with Minilogin but there is no server to choose from. Is it possible that the server just isnt up? When i run World and Boot5zones the screens flash by so fast I can't really tell if they work or not, and are those what the "server" consists of along with the db? Yes I'm new but i do have a semi-workin brain to have come at least this far.

Any assistance would be appreciated greatly.
