Default Just a small rant...

OK, to all you having 1017 errors...
I know you all have the right eqhost.txt...
I know you all have your firewall down or ports opened...
and I know you all have all the other files correct if you are tryin to host the server yourself...

Your 1017 error only happens because the emulator has not caught up with the latest patch(es). Period.

Do not let these 'posting-happy' gateway tech wanabies coerce you into tearing down your entire network because they are clueless and just want to post and look good.

well, they look stupid. they avoid your actuall question because they really dont know, they just like to spew previous posts (that dont really apply because they are outdated).

So hang in there, just wait for the updated emu...the dev's will get it out soon enough, just be thankful that someone is making an emulator period--I am, and patiently waiting.

BTW the EQEmuPatcher doesnt necessarily work for all people. I dont know why, but dont tear apart your system tryin.
Have faith in the devs. =)

Default Seems funny to me......

I have 6 pc's set up, 1 with win98, 1 with winME, 2 with win2k and 2 with winXP.
The only 2 in the bunch that get the 1017 error are the winXP machines.

Another WinXP Pro user here and I believe I'm getting a 1017 error "can't connect to patch server"? If it is due to EQEmuPatcher not being up to date enough then I'm cool with that just as long as I'll be able to play the game soon go devs!

Thanks for the info jtuma007 as I was just about to format my PC and try again, now I'll skip it.

Ok, so when the versions match up between emu and live, seems mainly WinXP boxes are having trouble, anyone know why they have trouble?
Surely there is a 'fix', workaround or something (besides goin back to winME or something, hehe) I just dont have the time to go paging through the support dbase at microsoft to find out.
Maybe this weekend I'll try to find something.
