number of servers

i finally got it to work but why i get in all i see is one server that says its down. is it me or is there just one server and its always down?

make sure that you have 5 zones up, otherwise it can cause this problem. Also if you have a router make sure you have your server's ip thrown out of the DMZ, AKA Set it up as a DMZ Server.

I'm basicly having the same problem. Sometimes though I log in, and this is rare, and I see a second LOCKED server up. The very first time I saw it, I was able to log into the Character Creation screen. When I was there, the screen wouldn't load any of the characters I made, so I couldn't log into the world. I thought I could just quit out and log back on and then the characters would appear. Well, after that the server would almost never show up on the screen, but even on the rare occasions it would pop up, when I try to log on it gives me the 1017 error.

How do I make sure I 'have 5 zones up'?

Master Shake, change yer sig now or else. you have links to warez and that is not permitted by the rules.. learn to read.

whats a DMZ and stuff, im haveing the 1017 error EVERYTIME i try to log into a server, but yet i see like 10 servers there to select from...each one wont let me join...always the 1017 error....*thinks about killin the guy who made the 1017 error* hrrmmm

Hmm. Interesting.

I've actually been having this same problem as of recently.

However, a few days ago, I was able to get on and there was a whole list of servers. There were only 2 I could connect to to play on (since I was attempting to connect to 0.5.0), but there was a bunch more 0.4.0 servers on there.

Now, when I connect, I just see that one server that's always DOWN, as in fitzchivary's case, but I also saw once, along with it, another LOCKED server as in Tauren's case.

I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, since I connected to a 0.5.0 server a few nights ago, and haven't changed anything since, but please, please, inform me if I need to change something.

Pleaes read http://forums.eqemu.net/viewtopic.php?t=9376. You are clients, not servers, so the problem has nothing to do with boot5zones.cmd.

acualy i was able to log in yesterday and play on aserver i think its more like the servers are done or something

Hey guys, I'm new to EQEmu as well, but yesterday got a little help, thought I would share what was told to me (Devs, if I'm wrong please correct me)

Yesterday I logged in to server select screen at the same time another buddy of mine logged in (was on phone with him) and I only had 1 server showing, but he had a list of them (Xantar, this should help you) so I clicked on the "chat" button and then back to "play" and the list of severs came back up instead of just one. I'm not sure if that's the way to correct it, but so far it's worked twice for me.

As for only being able to login to the 5.0 servers, it's because we do not have the December patch files (so I was told). The 4.4 servers require those patch files and if you do not have them, you will get the 1017 error every time you try to login. I have read this on a few other posts (no links avail b/c I've read so many posts I cannot remember where they are, but shouldnt be hard to find just look for any threads titled "1017 error?" etc) . From what I understand the 5.0 servers are dev test servers, I've killed mobs on them and got no xp, unable to #level or #zone, when I asked someone on that server why this was, he explained to me that 5.0 servers dont have the "goodies" the 4.4 servers do.

So for those of us that are new to EQEmu, we need to wait for the devs to patch to EQLive's latest update when all the other servers will switch from 4.4 to 5.0 before we can start in on the good stuff. Hopefully this will be soon, but I am content to wait it out.

If I get to the server screen and there are no servers I can go to chat, come back and more are available. Any eta on when the 5.0 servers will have items and exp?

I only get one downed server too. Going into chat and returning doesn't change it.
