just got back 1017s

I just got back from school and havent been on since march, there have been some HUGE changes. This said i know everything is set up the way it should have been then and I can log into the server select screen but when i try joining a server, like raid addicts for example which is an open server, I keep getting a 1017 error and SOMETIMES get a missing world server or somesuch message.

Thank you VERY much for any help with this, looks like it's alot different now.
