To open the game without the EQLive patcher, patching your game, just use EQWindows (with the patch game box unchecked), or you can created a shortcut to your eqgame.exe. Then right click on it and go to properties. the target should read as follows:

"c:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

with the quotes and all. Though, your directory for everquest may vary (read SHOULD vary), that is the default location for the target line.

You SHOULD make a backup directory containing ALL your everquest files, because if you play EQLive, then you will have to patch every time they put a new one out or you wont be able to play live. But if you overpatch then you will break EQEmu and wont be able to play that. This is what I learned the hard way (being very new to EQEmu, I really didnt have a choice since you can no longer get an erlier patched version of the game. So I, like all others new, will have to wait and just learn as I go hehe).

Hope this helped you some.
