From EQEmu's home page:

EQEMu 0.5.0-DR2 Broke w/EQLive
Posted by: MerthEQ :: 0 Replies :: 8 Views

The August 26 patch is not compatible with 0.5.0-DR2. If you attempt to login to a 0.5.0-DR2 server with the EQLive client, YOU WILL SEE ERROR 1017.

0.5.0-DR3 will have this resolved, and should be out within the next few days, at which time I will delete this post.

If you want faster service, subscribe to an EQLive account! It's a measily US$13/month!

Yeah, that wasn't there when I posted. I can read, despite what you might think.

It has, from what I'm drudging up from the other wails of distress in the support forum, a similar effect on the 4.4.

Yes, the 1017 errors are because SoE likes breaking EQEMu for fun. So really, if you patched, you wont be able to play EMu unless you backed it up like they have been telling us to do sence (almost) day 1. So if you do get the pre aug 26. version of eqgame.exe, MAKE SURE YOU BACK EVERYTHING UP! This does not only mean on your C drive (or whatever the harddrive is on your computer), but also back it up on CD-R's, Floppy Discs, etc. Try to atleast have 3 backups of eqgame.exe and the other files, because as everyone knows who has been with the EMu for awhile, if you can somehow lose your backup, you will. As for those of you who patched before you came to EQEMu, I guess you will either have to be patient with the Devs, or else try fixing the problem yourself by getting the old version of eqgame.exe.

Are you saying you been with EQEmu for awhile? Your joining date is two days ago....
