DR3 Released
EQEMu 0.5.0 Developer Release 3 has been released. It is available now on SF CVS.
Anyone can access the source code, but you must have the ability to compile the code in order for it to be of use. That is why we call this a "developer release". As a developer release, there are no precompiled binaries available. If you are unable to compile your own, you will have to play on the server of someone who has.
There are still a lot of features missing, but at least it works with the EQLive client!

Developers who are able to compile this themselves can visit the sticky post in the tutorial section for full instructions:
http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9648
We are unable to give full support for this release at this time because we are too busy coding for DR4.

If you do not know what "CVS" Is and how to use one, I Strongly recommend you do not attempt to compile and set up your own DR-3 Server. I recomend you play on another person's Server until the 5.0 Binaries have been released.

This is an EXCEPTIONALLY stupid question (more so than any other question of mine), but what language is everything in?
(Sorry, a lil off topic I know)

why can't there just be a link to the darn source? rather than having to download 10,000 programs just to download the source it is really aggrevating. All I want to do is run a server on my own computer offline on my own 3 comp network so all I really need is the source to compile this stuff

SF CVS is pretty darned cheap. Free, in fact.
This is the type of project where we don't hold your hand. If you'd like to see something changed, you're the one who has to do something about it!

well maybe cuz of the fact that 1) I do not want all of these billions of programs I have to download just to download the darn source. and 2) EVERYTIME I try to connect on cvs I get this horse manure:
***** CVS exited normally with code 0 *****
and nothing happens. I've clicked login like 100 times I swear. I'm getting kinda tired of trying to login and getting this. But oh well if I can't seem to download this source guess I'll just wait for the fooking binary release.

If you dont like it dont use it, just wait for them to get done with it so you can get everything already compiled.

CVS does work, but as Merth says in the guide, you need to keep trying, e.g. from a couple of minutes ago
