EQlive is what some of us call the Sony hosted Everquest. Or just plain EQ.

EQemu i(or EQEMu) is the name for this project, but sometimes we also call it EQ = although that should be reserved for the Sony product.

The reason why I ask EQlive or EQemu is to help isolate the problems. If you problem is with EQlive, then its a matter of doing an uninstall of the client and then reinstalling. And if you continue to get a problem, then call Sony Online for tech support.

If your problem is with setting up EQemu, then things could be slightly more complex but doesn't need to be very complex. You can work on it in stages.

1. Have a working EQ client installation and connect to EQlive
2. (recommended) copy your EQ directory for use with EQemu. Its over 1 GB but it is a good safety move if you have the hard disk space
3. Use your client from the EQ directory (if you didn't make a directory copy) and connect to an existing EQemu server. You will need an account and will have a minor change to one of your client files. Easy to do and the process is document on this site.

If everything works fine and you feel brave, then you can try a server installation. The set up is well document but it can get confusing.
