You are probably getting the 'panic: top_env' error without knowing it.

there is a post about this on one of the forums that i cant seem to find.. if i remember correctly the fix is to delete perl.dll (or some kind of perl dll) form your c:\windows (or c:\windows\system) folder... try doing a file search for *perl*.* in your c:\windows dir.

Default same here

I'm getting the same problem with the perl install. boot5zones.bat just loads the zones and then they disappear.. I checked and deleted the perl58.dll file in \windows\system32. But, that didn't fix the problem. Did search for perl*.dll and the only ones showing were in the perl directory, which I'm assuming is the correct place for them. Any ideas?

All I can think of is that this perl build does not work with windows.
you will have to wait untill they make a new version thats windows compatable.

It isn't broken just because you can't figure out how to get it running. I think you are wise to give up on it, though, since I don't think you have what it takes to figure it out. I don't understand why you would see fit to tell other people to give up, though. Or worse yet, declare the whole build broken.

Try making sure you have IO::Scalar installed. Do a forum search if you don't understand how. Or a websearch. Post more detail about your problem if it still doesn't work.

Default searches

I have searched extensively on both EQEMu and the web... I did get the IO Scalar installed correctly and seems to be working -- I don't know alot about Perl, but know C and VB pretty well. I asked a friend of mine to help and still can't get it to work.. I'm not necessarily giving up as I definately want to get quests working, etc. Does anyone have the 5.2 build with Perl working on a Windows box? If so, then I will keep working on it diligently.

Thanks for any help in advance.

On the Scorpious2k server, we had it working under 5.2 and now have it working under 5.3 with no problems.

Be patient, the learning curve is worth it! Perl is going to give you more than you can imagine. I was thinking last night how to make sleeper right... waiting until all watchers are dead BEFORE spawning the sleeper. I can see a way to do this now, under the old quest system I could never see a way to do that.
