If you have already patched there is NOTHING you can do other then wait. the system restore is a way around it, but what there not telling you is is restors your whole HD back to that point so you loose everything you did after that. If you did not make a back up copy of your entire EQ folder you are SOL, just be patient and wait for the Devs to catch back up.

EDIT=

scrubj the easiest way to make sure you can play on both live and EQEMU is to back up the entire EQ folder once you know it works with the EMU, then you will have 1 that you play live with and 1 for the EMU. For instance I have 4 EQ folders, 1 for 4.4, 1 for 5.1, 1 for 5.2(or whatever is the current) and 1 for live. This way I will always be able to play E<U and live.

Hello everybody,

After reading this thread for a little while, all i can say is: ROFL...it really cheered me up, it is funny when you read some comments.
But to the point. I wanted to help out a little.

First of all, I'd like to give a big thanks to the dev team, you guys are awesome, I never expected this project to come this far. I hope more people will encourage the devs and less people will whine, complain and post halarious but stupid posts (we all know whom I mean).

We should simply ignore the morons.

Back to the post asking what backup is. It's basically copying the whole EQ directory in working condition to another hard drive or a DVD.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else, I had to reinstall WinXP and then recently got a new HD, so I installed EQ on the 18th and HAD to patch. I'll be waiting patiently until we get a fix.

Happy holidays everybody!

LOL Windows Millenium Edition is by no means the same operating system as Windows 2000. Thats like comparing a Dodge Neon to a Dodge Viper. Windows ME was supposedly an upgrade to Windows 98 although it had so many problems that most users gladly downgraded to Windows 98 again. Windows 2000 is my favorite OS, it has all the functionality and the it doesnt look like a 3 year old's computer with all the pre-school looking icons (Windows XP default).

Windows 2000 is a great version, but i prefer to use Windows XP (as long as its SP1) xp has the few features i'd rather have.

EQEMU IS CURRENT WITH LIVE, NOT ALL SERVERS HAVE SWITCHED TO THE NEW BINARIES YET GIVE THEM SOME TIME. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO READ THE SITE BEFOR COMPLAINING / ASKING QUESTIONS 99.9% OF QUESTIONS ARE ALREADY ANSWERED.

sorry for the caps but we have been current with live since 12-21-2003 09:48 PM and people just refuse to read it. right under this post.
