Error 1017: Cannot login to the everquest server...
"(Above) followed by You may need to re-run the update patch. Repeatedly seeing this messsage indicats loss of connnectivity to the patch server. This is usually temporary."
I was playing just fine and logged off, logged back on a few seconds later, due to a spell bug, and then couldn't log back on.
I tried to re-boot, etc, then I tried to patch to the EQ Live patch and downloaded the newest patch. When I changed the login eqhost back to the recommended one for EQEmu, it had the same error.
Other people were logging in as I could see on the server screen, where you pick your world (i.e. Guildwars).
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Not sure what the problem was before you patched, but since you patched, you're out of luck until the next emu update. That is unless you made a back up of your eqgame before you patched. Some people have said that replacing your eqgame with one from before the patch works. Well, good luck

Don't know when the emu will be updated. One of the main rules is not to ask because it will be done when it's done. I've read other people were able to roll their computer back to a date before the patch and that works... Won't work if you deleted files though. Do a quick search and you'll find what they did to fix it.

Yep, sorry. You'll have to wait for the next update for the emu. Hopefully it won't be too long, but, you never know. Keep an eye on the forums. They'll announce when it's ready. I'm sure that the devs are working hard to get it working.

Yes, sorry you wont be able to play either. You see, it is NOT just the expansions that are updated when you patch, the client (read game on your computer) is updated to newer versions everytime they release a big patch (and sometimes not so big patches). To play EqEmu you must be playing the same version as the servers that are currently running. So in other words, if it is too old, you wont be able to play. If it is too new, you also wont be able to play..

the other part of the error message states:
Repeatedly seeing this messsage indicats loss of connnectivity to the patch server. This is usually temporary."
most likely it was just a temporary thing, however the reason it isn't working again is because you patched live, however the latest patch is playable on this server
[LIVE] Official EQEmu Test Server
this is Shawn319's server, it uses 0.5.5-DR1
update your files to this and try that

Damn just my luck. I played EqEmu a while ago, then quit. Then I came back and realized I patched into the new version and EqEmu was compatible. So then I forgot about it, and now I come back again and have the same problem.
Why is it that we can play on Shawn319's server. Doesnt that mean that he has the fix, or a fix? Or is it that DR1 is a version before DR3?
