Default Newb question

I had some trouble with the 1017 error message and looked on the posts. I've also probably missed something while scanning the faq files, but when

This can be done by opening up a command prompt, (cmd in run), going to your eqemu directory(example: cd C:\eqemu), and typing:

world adduser eqemu eqemu 200
said this, I saw I don't HAVE a eqemu folder. From what I gathered, downloading a folder with world.exes and db.dlls wasn't in the simple instructions for joining the servers. I'm fairly sure I missed something painfully obvious, but beating my head against my monitor wasn't working...

try looking 3 forums down.. Tutorials and Howtos oh my a forum to help get things going..wow imagine that. then looking inside you see a great post like HOWTO: Run Your Own Win32 EQEMu Server

to all people that post before reading:
spend a day or 2 reading before making yourself look like a fool.

I dont think he is wanting to join a server, but is getting confused... He just wants to play (that is the way I took it). If that is the case CArnifexpuer, then you are probably getting the error for one of two reasons. You either have a version of the EQ client that is too old, too new (meaning you patched the 10th and up), or you are having a NAT issue. Try looking up all three of these errors in search and you should find a resolution...

If you ARE trying to start your own server, then I agree with Wize.. sheesh read hehe.

K, thanks. I'm not trying to start a server or anything, just being really confused.
