Cancelled EQLive just before PoP, then decided I wanted to play again. Had 55 Monk, so wasn't much point starting again would take to long to get flagged for planes, found this and boom can instantly summon my old gear, level to 55 and play again! Now just need EQLive replicated server

I stumbled across a like to here a while ago while browsing through some forums and decided to check it out. When i realized all the different possibilities that this project had and all the fun that you could have, I couldn't help myself i had to try it.

Shortly after i started playing on EQEmu my EQlive account was banned (i was a bit of a hellraiser with my gnecro =D  ) so i ended up playing all the time and eventually decided to make my own server. First thing i did was stuff a bunch of custom weapons and armor into my DB and Populate my arena with dragons and Buffed up versions of my Banned EQlive chars.

in short ... just too much fun to stick to live

I played on EQLive for about 2 years (from just before the summer '02), and after I've seen everything (Including killing Quarm) I found the game .. Well let's just call it boring. Then my friend told me about this emu, and thought it sounded very much fun making my own server and such. I'm a coder myself, so maybe later on I would also be able to edit in the raw code for the program, and maybe help the dev's get the emu up to date for the upcoming patches etc.

I started playing EQlive when velious came out and just recently cancelled my account for like teh 5th time. Ever since i accidentally made my first char pvp at lvl 15, I started my downward spiral of "re-making chars" My highest char is still only 38 so i ended up just following the uber guilds websites to learn about Quarm, kerafyrm, Ntov, flags, uber lewt... and all the other high end stuff that i have no experience with.. even though ntov is oldschool etc etc... anyway, after never getting past lvl 38 and realizing i was Never going to be uber, never 65 with 200 + AA, be in an uber guild, be the first to explore new content, i quit and came to EQemu... now i can be lvl 65 with elemental gear and solo quarm !!

-as if you arent bored if reading this reply anyway... i'll just say one more thing, most people are saying that they arent going to buy EQ2 because they want to get away from SOE... im going to buy EQ2 just so i have a chance to become one of the "uber" people... i love the fact that everyone will have to start over.

I played EQlive for a couple of years pretty steadily, and really did enjoy myself up until SOL came out, for some reason it all got rather lame at that point.

I think the idea of spending countless hours getting my AAs and new and better ubergear scared me off, its just a game after all.

The funnest thing to do was powerleveling my wife - 1 to 45 in a week (yeah I know it coulda been done faster), but damn that was fun!

i think if you had added an option that said, "To play on guildwars server" most people would be voting for that right now =O

I personally just think that EQLive is starting to suck way too much. I don't really know how it is on other servers, but the server I played on up till a few months ago, the prices in the bazaar have just gotten ridiculous with all the greedy people upping prices and selling plat and whatnot. Now stuff that used to cost 4k is going for 10k minimum. And if you don't have the "uber sword of ownage" or whatever, half the people won't group with you because you're not a twink anymore.

At least with EQEmu.. EVERYONE can cheat if they want to, and it's not like your cheating will ruin the game for everyone else. It's nice to be able to play on a server where either everyone wants to do it the normal way or switch over to one where everyone just wants to mess around and change the size on spiderlings to 250 or something. That's why I switced to EQEmu. That and the whole "never gonna be uber again" thing kinda set in. hehe

I left because EQLive was EQLame.

I left EQLive around December of 1999 because of Verents contempt for the playerbase and the playerbases contempt for their fellow players.

The last 6 weeks of my misery were spent mostly sitting at the zone lines of lowerguk and Solusek B trying to get into groups so I could grind my L45 character towards 50. That and trying to find places in the fear/hate/dragon raids that were just starting to get going.

The people on EQLive at the time were so offensive to my very being I would probably have done bodily harm upon them if I knew them in real life.

3 huge guilds running Fennin Ro, with one of them attempting to "own" the server and dictate to everyone else what/where/when they could or couldnt do something, was too much for me.

Just now found out about EQEmu and when the main servers finally get patched I am looking to try it out.

ugh....i am sick to death of eqlive, only reason i still play is because i have a hermit friend who literally does NOTHING but play eqlive. he gets disability and spends it on a)eq and b)stuff to eat while playing eq...and occasionally c)better comp to play newer eq. its the only way we have contact with him anymore...all of you that have played, you know how far from joking i am.

on a much lighter note, i come from only ever playing on pvp servers, never touched a bluebie in my life...thats why the idea of guildwars intrigued me, since my home server Vallon Zek (which is supposed to be a pvp TEAMS server) is now all team guild v all team guild v all team guild etc.

i've been following eq emulation in general since about when ethernal quest just started posting screenshots of their thousand man human army all stuck in scarecrow stiff poses  anyway i've rambled my arse off and need to end this, just thought i'd put my two cents in.

EQlive just sucks now. It's way out of hand. I now see there's a point in a MMORPG's life where one too many expansions have been introduced, and EQ hit that mark with Luclin I think. And from there it's only gotten worse.

It was great when just classic. Freeport had it's own 'community', as did Qeynos. It was great when Kunark was released, and then Velious (man Velious! How I love it, taking sides in a war and all).

But then Luclin? Cats on the moon? Easy xp zones? Ugly, ugly new models?

Then PoP? Portal books? Even more phat lewt to collect that let hunt new zones and collect even better phat lewt?

Then Ykesha (what the hell is that expansion?) LDoN (interesting ideas at least), and GoD? Tribute?

Ahhh! Stop the madness! EQ is out of control! It's no longer the game I loved. Dark and Light is where the future is for me, and of course Guild Wars.

EDIT: oh and honestly, the worst thing about EQlive now is the guild politics. Nothing worse than having to reserve zones and mobs, and have your game play limited by other guilds. You all know what I'm talking about, it sucks.

Pretty much exactly sums up why I joined - I knew I would never reach a high level, and always be stuck as a lowbie because of my extreme lack of patience, so I joined up, got onto a server, got GM'd, and starting hacking away at dragons in the arena.

Default cause...

Because i'm tired of SOE doing all sorts of crap to make a few bucks and nothing more, i intend to start a server dedicated to the gamers by the gamers

I played EQLive on Tallon zek and Tallon Zek only. Started within the first ~3days the server went live. had tons of fun up untill the release of Velious which is when PvP offically died imo. Thats when TZ became a purple server imo(Red and Blue = purple!) Continued on anyway having fun with friends and quit about 6 times in the process across 3 characters. Neyphlite the DESK during original EQ, Daiken the DEWar during Kunark and Zlain Vah BST at luclin release.

Played him up to 65 w/ 110AA then quit when GW2 was released. GW2 is now down so i had a friend reactivate my EQLive acct for the duration. I'll be playing on live on TZ till Mar15 when GW2 1/2 comes up ^_^.

Your welcome for the tired sick and hurried post!(I'm at work!)
