Do you want a private or public server? (Private is probably easiest to setup).

When did you last patch?

Did you add the account your trying to log into, into your database?

See samandhi's error post, I'm sure you'll find a link to fix from that if this doesn't help.

I'm up-to date with the most recent patch and I can login to my server if I cange all the IP's to localhost...I was hoping to set up a public server. I got some pretty nifty ideas Im hoping to implement, but Im pretty sure the things I want are poretty advanced but just the basics is what Im lookin for for now. That error giude was one of the first things I read through.

Are you sure you don't have a built in firewall in your DSL Modem? Most do, and that could be causing problems.

On mine you log into HTTP://192.168.0.1 to get into the configuration page to open and close ports or turn firewall on/off. Check your documentation for the proper address. 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1 are popular ones also.

Aangus is obviously talking about a router, not a modem.

I think that what he is referring to is a combo modem/router.. A lot of ISP's nowadays are giving them for DSL connections.... This COULD be the problem, as you will need to forward your internal IP to your external IP... And you may need to open up the ports for the built in firewall that comes with MOST routers...

Make sure your PW for your EQEMu is not TOO short as this will cause 1017.

Looking at that output of your world.exe and zone.exe you are connected to the loginservers just fine, so it is probably something either on your pc or a client problem (ie... patched to wrong version, or something like that), or you didnt activate your account when you signed up with an EQEMu account..

Ok if I have the first problem how do I forward my internal IP to my external?

Also how do I open the ports required?

My pass is more than 5 chars long is that an issue?

Lastly I played EqEmu for a while before I decided to try and run one. Thanx for the help

You need to know whether your runing a router or combo router/modem 1st. If you are running a combo or router, just check the manual on how to config.

Ok now make SURE you dont have any firewall software running (if you do then make sure the correct ports are opened), and also make sure the windows XP crappy firewall is not running as that WILL cause the problem... Another thing to check is are you running ICS (internet connection sharing)? There is an issue with this and EQEMu, so you will have to turn it off..
