Starting immediately, there will be a new registration process. Due to the problems and the insecure nature of phpbb passwords, we will need to separate the forum accounts with login server accounts. Old accounts will continue to work the way they always have, with the exception of using the everquest client to change your login account's password. Accounts on the login server will be associated with forum accounts in a limited form, but we recommend you use a different password on your login server account than your forum account. The registration system works like this:
1. If you dont have a forum account, you must register one. After you register a forum account, you will still need to register a login server account because we arent going to be using the forum usernames/passwords anymore.
2. Login to your forum account and click the profile link from the top forum menu. On the profile page, under your username you will find a unique key. That key will be needed to activate a new login server account.
3. Change your eqhost.txt file to the following:
[Registration Servers]
{
"register.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}
4. Using the everquest client, click Account, New. The only information we need you to fill in is your email address (it must match your forum accounts email address), your cdkey (Login Server Activation Key located in step 2), your station name (new account name you want), password, and your user handle for chat purposes. Although this is the only information we use, the eq client makes you fill in some of the fields.
5. After your account is created, you will be able to login and play everquest as normal. You can only have 3 login server accounts associated with your forum account. If you want more than that, you will need to register another forum account.
Although every step was taken to prevent people from losing accounts, if you cant login please email me at
LethalEncounter@EQEMulator.net with your forum username and the error you are receiving.
Again, current accounts will work as normal (they were moved over to the new system), this is only for new login server accounts; However it is HIGHLY encouraged that you change your login server password and keep it different than your forum account password. Phpbb is full of exploits, so please change your login server password.
