For up to 12 accounts you can try using the publiclogin
It is unsupported though so you will have to figure most of it out yourself, there are some post on the boards that can help you out.
There aren't any npc's in the standard DB, go to the worldbuilders forum to get a spawned database (all are work in progress though) This will also help the zoneing problem, but not all the zone points ar in and working, you can use the #zone {shortzonename} command, see #help
The no sound is probably an error on your computer, sound works fin in the emu.
