Why am I going Linkdead as I am about to log in my character

I can get to char sewlect I select my char and it starts to load eq like4 I am going to login to the world and then before the world even starts I go LD... Is this because my connection is just that bad or am I potentially doing something wrong?

It could be several things. The least likely is that your connection just sucks. The most likely is that you are trying to play on a server with a version of the EQ client that doesn't work on that server. If you've patched recently you have to play on 5.7 DR2 servers.

thanks for the info, that will solve his problem i think, as well as mine. I need to figure out how to take my server up to 5.7 dr2. This might be more difficult than i thought, but i bet it would be rewarding to actually do it.

Do the servers play up for example a dr1 on your machine can play dr1 and dr2's? or does the version need to match exactly?

For the most part the versions have to match exactly in order for you to play on them.

I patched today, May 5, and I cannot connet to 5.7 dr2 servers

I am having this problem also.

I am using the MiniLogon, Emu Version 5.7 DR2, and get the Linkdeath problem from my Zone.exe's whenever i try to boot in.

The Last Modified Date on my Eqnews.txt is 4/28/04; I assume that is the last time i patched (I cant remember editing the news file myself :P)

Any ideas?

Erm... I just noticed this additional at the top of my zonefile connection segment...

(I'm unsure where the last connection ends and the next begins, so there's probably some overlap)

Couldn't find/read ./cfg/.cfg. (returning -1)
Corrupt (or nonexistant) zhdr file ./cfg/.cfg -- fread count = -1 (should be 58
Using default zone header data...

(etc...)

What is causing this? (I mean.. nothign should be named just .cfg ?)[/code]
