Default good old 1017

Hi guys,

first I know that there are MANY threads about 1017 cause i read them ....

But every given solution doesnt work for me .... have no firewall installed, version is korrekt because i can play on any other 57dr3 server, turned of the integrated firewall in win2k3, tried to use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost, and Im directly connected to the internet ... no router... and so on but still getting the 1017.

Possible that its something simple but after searching for days its absolutely impossible for me to get it work.

### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to.
### --- Leave the account and password field BLANK.

### --- Public Login is un-supported as is LAN playing. We recommend using the eqemulator.net Loginserver ALWAYS.

### --- NOTE: You can NOT use the word "Server" in worldname.
### --- NOTE2: the word "Server" is added to each server automatically.

If you have NOTHING that would normally cause a 1017 error, and you can play on other people's servers, and you know you have an up to date DB, then it IS possible that your ISP wont allow incoming connections other than the standard ports. This could be fixed by either changing ISP's or going through a proxy server.....

Is your database on a seperate computer than your World/Zone servers? If it's not then you should be using localhost in your db.ini instead of 192.168.0.10

I'm on your server, try this:

edit your c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file

Add:

127.0.0.1 arkaiden.ath.cx

if you are running the EQ client on the same PC as the server,

or

192.168.x.x arkaiden.ath.cx

replacing 192.168.x.x with the INTERNAL IP address of your server IP

If you are running the server from the same pc as the client, try this:
Change your world address to localhost or 127.0.0.1 and see if you can log in.....

Also, try changing your zones to localhost or 127.0.0.1 and see if you can log on....

Let me know if either of these work, and we'll go from there...

/edit This may be totally irrelevant, but try taking out the "." (period) in your server name (though I havent logged on in a long time so dont know if others use this character successfully or not... If so ignore the edit)>>>>>>>
