Video display error, help please

I can log in to all servers just fine. However, at the charecter selection screen, I can't see my charecters at all where it should show them. Ignoring that, when I go into game, all I can see is my UI and text names above NPCS and charecters, and spell particles. everything else is a solid black color.

I can't figure out what is causing this, I have tried two different video card drivers (geforce 4 ti 4200), I had a friend send me his entire default UI Folder, and a bunch of the graphic dll's to try to fix it, with no luck. does anyone know how to solve this?

I did a fresh install of eq (orig through PoP), and patched to live the other day and ran the scorpious2k patcher and the CoE patcher btw..

i had the same problem
i could see my characters/textures and all that again when i patched back to live then used all the files in the scorp2k and coe patcher except the eqgame.exe but of course this should just give you the problem of after you select your character it boots you to the username/password screen :lol:
emu still isnt up to date with live im sure it will be fixed when it is =/ sadly enough we just have to wait for that day :cry:
ive been trying to find a way to play for a while now my normal install is long out of date and i cant log in with that and cant patch to live yet
*sigh* just stuck waiting :(

I have exactly the same problem. The problem seems to be the eqdx9.dll files that correspond to the eqgame.dll files.

If someone can post a link to working versions of these files, then I am sure this will cure the problem of the black graphics.

Me too. I hope these pics don't violate any rules. If they do just delete them. However they are specific to the issue. Please help.

Edit* Is anyone currently using DX9.0b?

It's your files.

If you patched to live, you can try running the two patchers to revert them, but it may not work. If you patched to live, your probably screwed. Can't put it any more simple than that.

Yeah,in another thread sotonin said his friend patched to live then patched with the scorpious2k patcher then COE and it worked perfect for him. All I know is im getting frustrated heh at first I couldnt get past the login screen, well I fixed that. Then I couldnt get into any servers, my client would crash, well I fixed that too. Now I can get into the servers but my screen looks like the pics posted in patmcrotch's post

. I also tried running the 2 patchers to get it to work for me but it didnt, I even tried the WW patcher but it when it patched it got to the fungusgrove_chr.txt file and just sat there forever. Is it possible to do something like what tgriffit said? If someone else can get it to work and they patched to live then other ppl should too. Like I said im just getting frustrated now that Ive spent some time trying to fix it and it still wont work and at first I was just gonna be patient but I dunno now hehe

well in most cases, the players wont need to patch to live, thus being able to prevent the problem if they are smart (or even make a seperate eqemu install). but in my case it was a fresh install and I had no choice other then to patch to live, too many outdated files. it seems tobe a problem with dx9b and geforce 4 ti 4200 cards or similar, I am sure the next time eq emu updated to be compatible with live it'll be fixed, so we just have to wait...

Same here. This was my first foray into the EQEMU world.

Same for me too. I got the WR patcher to work and I logged in but could only choose from a few servers and they werent the normal ones that I usually saw. Well I hopped on WR's server and got to the character creation screen and it was working perfect, my screen wasnt messed up at all. After I clicked next to go to the second part of the char creation though it crashed saying something like "Your EQ client may have crashed blah blah blah."
Kinda sucks I got it working up to this point only to crash out. :evil:

Edit: Well I got WW server to load up and I am able to play on that perfectly, but not Scorpious2k's server. So I guess I will play on WW until a fix is released.
