Default new features

I was thinking (obviously this is important to living and so on but on this occasion I was bored enough and felt my thoughts worth sharing. With the developement of the ability for pets to zone, I was wondering if it were possible to add hired mercs to the game. I know that it is a directionthat people might not want gone with everquest but its just a thought...

Default Nother Idea

Would it be possible to to create armor that makes a character transparent? It would be cool to give an iksar monk a bracer and glove that did that and be able to create a one armed monk link it Cabilis lore. As you can see I come up with wierd ideas and ive decided that there is no harm in sharing them, I just wish I had the hardware to run my own server and experiment myself =/

Mercenaries aren't hard because it would basically be a merchant that cast custom pet summoning spells for you. But transparent models is virtually impossible because all the models are completely controlled by the client and all we can do is use the ones they have and change the colors. There is no way to add or change models without hacking the client source or convincing sony to do it.

The client has no transparent armor textures like you are talking about and there is no way to specify one. All you can do is make the armor piece invisible and they will show up as naked.

Wrong, actually, you can change models, replace old orcs by another model, it work the same way with weapons models, you can change them.
But on the legal side, you dont have the right to change a model from an EQ file, you would have to change all the models of the files.

The armors, as well as the weapons, can be customised. Transparent armors are technically possible, an example is the gnome helm, they got a semi transparent part, i believe that like obects, if could maybe be able to make invisible/transparent parts.

The client doesnt haven but you can make yours, on the zone i created, there is transparent crystals, and invisible bridges thru islands.
Also, i dont know how work EQ, so your maybe right AnimePimp, but on most of games, you dont add an armor to a mesh, so you simply replace the mesh part, maybe peoles like WC or peoples working on Freaku could answer this question~

Yeah, if you completely create all your own models and distirbute them to people it would be possible. But it would probably be easier at that point to just make one armed models that you can change someones race to since if you make a armor model you have to make quite a few different versions of it, one for human, another for iskar, and so on. But theres no way to do it jsut iwth DB commands and server code without changing the client.
