Here is some info I got:
Files that make EQGame.exe look corrupt when you run EQW:
Currently downloaded:
equname.txt
equchk.txt

Deleted.
Run EQW. Username and password wiped so I had to retype them in. Basically that fixed it for me, hopefully it works for the rest of you.

Scratch that, character selection looks like hell took a fork to it. And you will still get the corrupt file:eqgame.exe message.
