Default Problems connecting to Servers: Restarts.

I have the orginal EQ. just that. I have follwed the tutorial letter for letter. But Every thing seems to be working alright till I get to the server list. THen things start to fall apart.

When I select an open, 0.5 serverThe game restarts. It kinda drops back to the desktop with only a little black box in the upper-Left hand corner of my screen. At this time the desktop remains inactive. After about 30secs the game restarts back to the main menu and when I try to Logon it tells me to run the updater.

I will apreiciate any help. Thank you. (Sorry my first post had to be a problem.)

Ok. Now I am no stranger to Computer Operations. I am very comfortable with them in fact. But I AM new to EQ and MMORPGs in general.

When They say, Patch to LIVE, Do they mean what I did? Start up EQ and let it do the patching? Cause I think I have done everything right yet still can't play. Oh wel..

Patching to live means that you allowed it to patch completely, and that you didn't get disconnected, etc.

If you're patched all the way and still get a 1017 error, I'm not sure what the problem is. Try multiple servers. Sometimes it only seems to work with 2 or 3 servers for some people.

I am having the same problem and can only play on one server. It is quite annoying. Anyone have any idea as to what is wrong ? Thanks.

what is wrong is right now everything is still in Beta, not all servers are using the same Compile. be patient and wait for 5.0 is get outs the beta phase.

also, try going to the advanced tab (live patcher) and checking every expansion. It will then download the patch files that came with the expansions. You may also wish to run a thorough file scan from there.

Each time you patch you will need to change eqhost.txt again.

Good Luck
