Default Scorpious2k Problems Galore

Ok, I must be the most unlucky guy on scorpious. It seems as though I get a 1017 error first time i try to connect, i getan internal error second time, and then third time, it crashes. then repeats. When the few times I can actually connect to the server, All of my characters are in down zones or they have a bad item or someting! Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix this? or is this just a server error? i have the latest update, i do not have the latest expansion.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble. You may be the person I was watching on the server having a hard time getting on yesterday.

By "crashing" do you mean going back to the server select screen, character select screen or crashing to desktop and having to start the program up again? Do you get any error messages? Have you tried creating a new character and getting on with it? Have you tested other servers to see if it happens there?

If it consistantly happens, I would check the version of directx you are running and update it if you don't have the most recent version. You might want to check your video drivers. Sometimes just rebooting can solve irritating problems like this.

Next thing to check is memory use. The EQ client is a memory hog. If you don't have a lot it can crash when it runs out! Go into the options screen (the one before you connect to the logon server) and turn off options. Deselect special luclin models (I'd keep the horses tho <grin>). Reduce the resolution, take it down to medium or even low. You can always try putting these things back one at a time once you get it working.

What else is running? Shut down everything but only what you NEED. Especially anything else that might be using a lot of memory, DirectX or graphics oriented..

Last thing I can think of is using the built in windowed mode with the EQ client. I tried it. Didn't like it. There is something wrong with it, can't put my finger on it... I just don't trust it. Go full screen or use EQW if you want it windowed. In my opinion, either is a better choice than the built in windowed mode.

Ok, last night after hours of tinkering with my computer I was able to get on with my wood elf ranger... When it crashes, it takes me to windows. I can usually go a while without getting disconnected with my elf, but whenever I try to do a dwarf on your server, it crashes. I can play him for a little bit, but as soon as I try to zone, it crashes. I think your server is anti dwarf! i know that i'm running the latest version of direct x, i never run anything else when I'm running EQ, cuz it slows it down, and I despise lag. I havn't tried getting back on yet today, but I'm going to right now. I'll see if taking off some graphics works for me.

If you are on dial up, that is an issue right there cause at this point EQEMU is not dial up friendly.

Nope not dial up, I've had a lot more luck recently. I have broadband... Although I was wondering if EQEmu will try to become more dial up friendly with more updates? Because I have a friend that would like to play, but gets disconnected too much.

Ya, if a Dev sees these can they tell me how high on the priority list is the dial up friendliness? I'd imagine near the bottom but its worth asking.....because I am stuck on that with no chance of broadband. (Stupid 3 mile DSL limit.....stops literally at my driveway, considering dropping a comp in a hole up there and networking with my comps in the house....tho the 3/10s of a mile driveway just MAY be a issue :P)
