Default Yet another error 1017

Hi all

Hopefully I've got this support request right... I'm going nuts trying to get this working. I have no idea why I'm getting error 1017s

EQLive patched up to latest version

a) What OS (Operating System, IE: Windows 95) you are using

Windows XP on my machine which is the server, and also on the machines trying to connect.

No windows firewalls. Running Norton but have tried with this disabled/options tweaked.

Thanks in advance!

b) What you are connecting to (Minilogin, Publiclogin, Logging/Hosting into eqlogin.eqemu.net)

Using Minilogon

c) What EMU Version (IE: 0.3.7) you are using

0.5.2

d) Paste the text out of these files:
=======db.ini (mask out PASSWORD please) ======

# READ README.TXT!

===========loginserver.ini ============

### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to.
### --- Leave the account and password field BLANK.

### --- Public Login is un-supported as is LAN playing. We recommend using the eqemulator.net Loginserver ALWAYS.

### --- NOTE: You can NOT use the word "Server" in worldname.
### --- NOTE2: the word "Server" is added to each server automatically.

If you're using a newly patched version you'll never be able to connect to 5.2 You need 5.5

What did you download ?

Some binaries are built as 'debug builds', and the exes are named worlddebug.exe and zonedebug.exe. Make sure you are running the right exes for the 5.5 version you downloaded.

If you downloaded 5.5 you probably pasted something over it ( like 5.3).

Ok, now I must be starting to sound thick, but i've managed to get the right build downloaded and my server is now booting and showing as 0.5.5-DR1

Still getting the error 1017 though...

Tried with the default eqemu eqemu and with another user and password I've set up myself

What about your Miniloginaccounts.ini?

Depending on what computer you are trying to connect with it needs to look somthing like this (below would be if you are connecting with the computer your Minilogin is installed on)

127.0.0.1 eqemu eqemu <-- make sure you put one space after this.

I have this in my miniloginaccounts.txt

127.0.0.1 eqemu eqemu
192.168.0.151 tineladia herpass

the other IP is the IP that the second machine has. When I'm connecting from the machine the server is running on I use 127.0.0.1

Did you make sure there is a space after each line (that would mean a space after the last "u" on the first line and a space after the last "s" in the second line. Also when you are trying to log in does it register anything on your MINILOGIN console? Also I noticed on your EQHOST.TXT you have 3 lines for you for the login server, I know on mine I only have 1 line there:

[Registration Servers]
{
"192.168.0.1:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"192.168.0.1:5999" <--- I only have this line filled in not the other three
"192.168.0.1:5999"
"192.168.0.1:5999"
"192.168.0.1:5999"

***Edit*** oh by the way, you are missing the last bracket here, there should be one more line with a "}" on it***

Also just to make sure, you did enter the accounts into your DB right?

Hi

Ok double checked everything and finally managed to get in (two mistakes on my part, one with not having one of the logins in the db, the other a typo in the ip address, doh!)

Now I can't create characters. I always get name rejected

This is the error world.exe is giving

Validating char creation info...
Found 0 errors in character creation request
Client::OPCharCreate(): caught unhandled exception
DeleteCharacter: successfully deleted 'Ojedoted' (id 6)
Received unknown opcode: 0x00f0 size:0 bytes

ok, I've tried emptying the name_filter table, I even tried dumping the entire DB and starting from scratch but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Any ideas?

At worst is it even possible to create the character by hand into the db rather than from the interface?

Sounds like a DB error... Are you just running the DB that came with 0.5.2, if so you need to source the update, it adds some columns in the db. If you want you can use the MW055_alpha_2 database, you should be able to find it somewhere on the boards, that should have the proper format.

The DB that came with 0.5.2 is an emty DB that just added the tables for you.. It did NOT add any info.. You WILL have to use a newer DB as rafar is right, tables have changed slightly or added some where there werent any... It is my advice to not try and source the newer DB that you get from the worldbuilding forum, on top of the 0.5.2 DB. In theory it should add tables where needed and blah, blah, blah, but MW is basically a complete DB and you should source it alone to begin with... Do the simple stuff before trying to get tricky with it... <smile>
