Default How would this kind of server sound?

I am developing this server for my friends, (I want to see how good they can quest), and I was curious as to what the EQEMu community thinks. The server Im creating is not about leveling at all. It is about quests, equipment and AAs. When you arrive in the server you start at level 70. You start on one of five different, long, non-MQable quests. The quests completely rework the Lore, however still using some familiar names. Each of the 5 quests result in the same things however they are completely different paths. In some parts its easier in lets say quest #1 than quest #2, but it might even itself out in another part.

Heres the setting I have.
There are seven main zones known as the Temples of Valor. Each zone gets progressively harder, but should seem to stay the same as you get better equipment and (no drop) spells as you get higher in. By getting 100,000 platinum you can talk to someone in the third temple, and they will advance you 2 levels, for ease. The quest would take persistance and knowledge of the game, and not just patience as most mobs have a fast repop time. At the end of the Seventh Temple you are allowed to bring 5 people with you into the 8th "lost" temple, to 1-group this final boss mob, the "lord of the temples".

The final fight will require a good strategy and the usage of most all the spells found in the previous 7 zones. Once you kill the final boss, you are given level 255 and a new class title.. example..

*GM* [255 Emporer Enchanter] Cisyouc (Erudite) ZONE: cshome

Once achiving this you have 'won' the game. More # commands are now available to you (specifics im not sure).

What do you think of this?

The level thing sounds kinda wacky, will be too unbalanced in levels, 70/255..i dont know about everyone else but i like being lvl 65 =P The quest things sound interesting, but there would just be too much of a gap between newer ppl and older ppl, alot of people like to go to the arena and i dont think that would be very balanced out would be no fun =/....this is my opinion =) so dont flame me plzzz hehe

Im not sure if you understand, most of the quest can be soloed except for some fights which can require a friend or two, or more if you'd like its up to you. The level 255 is to make the people who have finished the quest recognized and "Emporers". And this isnt supposed to be a flame . There are lots of people who are 65, time geared people who beat on the level 30s in the arena, its just the way things work.

aye, im understanding that, but when you become level 255 you hit for enormace amounts of damage, and when ur 65 you hit for 700 max with a legit 2 hander, Im just saying that maybe it would be a better idea if you made the mobs a lil easier and maybe start people off at lvl 30 +/- w/ skills and give the lvl 65's :Emperor etc title....Level 255 totally unbalances the whole game, :: I think ::

I really dont think it matters. You could base it around level 1 as a starting level w/ skills you just wouldnt have AA available to you and thats the point of starting at 70. Its just adding more 0's really =p

Giving 255 may unbalence it, maybe make it level 80, I dont know many people who can earn half a million platinum to gain level 80 using the advancement NPC. How does this server sound? To make sure that this game DOESNT seem like a single-player game, the difficulty would be adjusted to the popularity of the server.

Making levels lower would consist of making the mobs alot easier to kill, or a lil less harder so they cant be soloed...its fun when you need 2+ people to kill stuff, boring when you run around and solo everything...I guess i cant really judge it because i havnt played it, im just trying to think of how that would work being lvl 255...Only reason it might turn people off because alot of people like legit/non-legit like lvl 65 max...but if they stay at 65 to have fun lvl 255 will cream them...its all a matter of what the people like really, maybe it will work =) maybe it wont we shall see eh?

Good Luck

Right, the hps on the mobs would be low but It would be tweaked depending on the popularity of the server.

Anyway I spent some time on the quests and Ive changed it around a bit. Except to see another post about this in 6 years

Once you get past level 65 you really don't get MUCH more powerful. Well you do, but what I am saying is you don't gain anymore offense, defense, skills etc so even at 255 you basically still got the skills of a level 65, just alot more hp and the ability to have more max stats. If you have mobs hitting for massive damage those extra hp don't amount to much. I found that out on Scorp2k where at level 105 with virtue and 4500AC and 10k of hp I can survive about 2 rounds from mobs in pofire.

This is sorta the idea I had for a server, but since I use a router looks like I won't ever get to host a server. My idea however still let you level up and such though.

At lvl 255, your atk base goes up to 1,000-2,000 atk !! so once your

Level: 255

With Attack with proper weapons + lvl: 3-4000 ATK

AC with proper armor + lvl: 3.5-4000 AC

Im really saying once your on the way to level 100 or above , with proper gear, your really strong, you can quad with up to damages up to 500 - 1,500dmg to a mob....

But it also depends on weapons stats
