Default Getting Error 1017 on MY server

Alright this is or WAS going to be my first server. I had someone on eq help me set up my server. I can get it to show on the Server List. But when I try to log on the server I get the 1017 error. He said I need to forward my ports..

-I have a Netgear Ethernet Hub (Which apparently can not be forwarded.

-I have tried typing in my gateway ip into IE, 192.168.0.1 (Did not work.

-I've tried going through Run, cmd, telnet 192.168.0.1 (Which also didn't work. (QUOTE: Connecting to 192.168.0.1...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

I'm going through the Hub to the "Main" computer, which is connected to the cable modem. It's called InfoRanger or something like that. My provider is videotron. I have no firewalls up on either computer. I do not know what to do, I've tried pretty much everything... All I want is for my server to work Plz help

Just for now try a direct connect from your modem to your pc, see if that is your problem and if it does you need to do more tweaking.

As for what MySQL does it holds all your items, factions, noc names, player characters, pathings, pretty much everything but the zone layout and character models itself, it does however control sort of what they look like. Like the forums for example, your browser gets a small script that says This color here and here but pull this information from the database about this and this topic and thread

Didn't work, mostly because the internet didn't work period. Dunno I think I might just afk a friend or find someone who doesn't mind running a server on their comp for a couple $ a month. I can't afford 100$+ a month. Either that or I'll just have some compuer wiz come over :P

do you think you need to pay for hosting an eqemu server?

No, but for a dedicated server yeah. Thats why I want so much to get it to work my MY comp so I don't have to pay anything, and don't mind keeping in on 24/7, I already do. Possibly later on when I got alot of people on the server I could try and gather some money for a dedicated server but to awsome your question no I don't think you have to pay to host, but I know dedicated servers cost money.
