Guide to error Posting (Fast Resonses and working solutions)

There are many things that make one situation differ from another in this process of connecting to EQEmu. There are many bright people here who would love to help you fix your problem and they try to. But frequently we are not provided with enough information to provide the adequate help you desire. To get a working solution to your problem, and a fast response make sure to include the following information in the post so that we know whats happening. The olive text is for hosting a server green for connecting. If its not colored you need it for both.

1. Are you hosting or trying to connect to the server?

2.(a) If Your hosting, post the following files on your post.

LoginServer.ini
db.ini
boot5zone.bat

2.(b) Next post ALL the names of the files that are in your EQEmu Folder (or the folder with your zone.exe, world.exe, and EMuShareMem.dll files)

2.(c) Tell us what database you are useing.

2.(d) Tell us what source your useing.

2.(e) What Version is your server?

2.(f) What error are you getting?

2.(g) What have you tried in order to fix it?

2.(h) Anything else you want to tell us that might help.

2.(i) Post your outputs of zone.exe and world.exe (to do that click the titlebar on the cmd prompt and click copy. Or if you wish post a picture that oyu have hosted on another site i dont care which way.)


3.(a) If you are trying to connect to a server post your

3.(b) What is the last day you patched. (If you dont remember give us an estimate date)

3.(c) Is it recently a reshly installed Directory (since about 6/01/04 not sure on date probly after that sometime but if after this date let us know)

3.(d) What version are you connecting to.

3.(e) Can you play on Normal Everquest. (If you cant thats most likely the problem.)

3.(f) What problem are you having.

3.(g) Anything else you want to tell us you might think would be helpful for us to know.

I forgot the most imporant thing... USE SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST THERES PROBLY A FIX OUT THERE.

I know atleast for myself i get tired of posting the same fixes over and over when they're on teh same forum and sometimes right below or above the post asking for help. Use your brain thats why God gave you one.

What is the last day you patched? Earlier today.

Is it recently a reshly installed Directory? No, this was installed months ago. Last year most likely.

What version are you connecting to? If this is referring to server version. 5.8

Can you play on Normal Everquest? Yeah, I can. I don't crash in regular EQ.

What problem are you having? After I choose a character, it seems like its loading up, the screen freezes a bit, turns black, then reverts back to the server select.

Anything else you want to tell us you might think would be helpful for us to know? Not really. :(

Didnt intend for people to post on this forum it will get too large i dont want it that way. But what you can try is makeing sure that you followed melwins instructions on how to play on 5.8, If you do not follow them exactly then it will not work. Not being able to log into a server from the character selection screen is one of two problems, Its either a problem with the UI, or the client. I've seen cases where either of them will fix it. However i cannot give you a fix because that would be illegal you'll have to find the files somewhere else, chances are if you just patched today they might have broken something else, we never know.
