Are you using 16bit color mode for your desktop? and are you using EQW 2.22?

Default More info needed then

So all you did was change your eqhosts.txt file and install EQW
and when you log into someones(any?) server you crash back to desktop?

OK heres coming from the list on program crashing errors

a) EQGAME caused an invalid page fault in
module EQGFX_DX8.DLL at 0167:01bf719e.

is the error, and when i debug with Visual C++, i get a window that tells me ACCESS VIOLATION at the end of it.

b) OS = Win98

c) 0.3.3.1 download

d) using the eqemu.net:5999 or whatever, exactly from the readme

e) EQW to start it

f) 2.22 ver

g) not precisely sure when last patch date was.....i know that i can get to servers without it telling me invalid version, download patch so i think i have the right sets

h) 733Mhz 256 ram Geforce 1 with detonator DLed, cable, not sure on sound

hope this helps you in addressing my problem =)

Yesterday (5/30) there was a secret patch with eqmain.dll. if you have the new file you can NOT log in to the EQEmu Loginserver or any loginserver (including Minilogin and Publiclogin) untill it has been fixed.

NO ETA.

If i have not run the EQ patcher for about a week or so, and have only run through EQW since, i would still be affected?

If you know you havn't patched, then no. Perhaps EQW 2.22 isn't compatable with the old eqmain.dll and causes problems.

Try using eqw 2.21 If your keyboard does not work, then you patched and are sol for now.

your other problem may be

in your eqclient.ini they have a colordepth variable. i'm too lazy to get the actual name of it, but it will have either 16 or 32 after it.

make sure your desktop settings are the same as that number there.

Default that last post helped me

For some reason when I re-installed eq the .ini file only had luclin options available so I copied the eqclient.ini from an old backup(one that had *VideoModeBitsPerPixel=16*) and its working.
