Everyone except me getting 1017, all my ports are OPEN

So like it says, anyone trying to join my server is getting 1017. I have my router set to DMZ, so every port is open. The thing is, it was working fine the day previous to the patch. I attempted installing it, messed up, so i completely redid it with the previous version.

The next day I used the peq installer for the new version, and the server worked fine. However now no one can get in, they get a black screen followed by a boot to login with error 1017. I am fairly certain this happened to someone the night before i successfully installed the new version, but after i had messed up once and reverted to the old version.

DMZ is and always was enabled, so every port is open, I have no firewall, no antivirus running. I have filtered through tons of posts on the subject, but every answer seems to be network/port related. If all my ports are open, I am stumped. I did not change any network settings throughout this time, so that variable has remained unchanged.

Any ideas are appreciated, thank you!

this is exactly the same thing that is happening to me.

Well please post if you figure it out, I've got no idea how to solve this.

what kind of router are you running? i have a linkysys wrt54g. now i had the same problem as you! i opened all ports and still nothing! now i went back and read a few things, this fixed my problem, i dont know about you but this is what i did......First set up a static ip...second i clicked on the security setting and unchecked the box labeled "block anonymous internet requests" then went to apps and gaming...opened ports 7000 - 7005 now im not sure if you have to open all of them but i did anyways and opened port 9000 as well. now make sure to put in your static ip and check the enable box....after that people were able to log in to my server hope that helps! sorry if my sentances seem odd as english is not my first language =p

Great I will try that Tileren, I do have a linksys, but it is a slightly different model, however I recognize all of the options you are talking about.

when you login to your router, click applications and gaming tab, then DMZ sub-tab, there is a little help file off to the side. If you are using a linksys, then you MUST set the computer to a static IP. I recommend just using port forwarding though to the computer you want. You will have to set up 3 different ports (5998, 9000, and 7000~7005 by default unless you add more zones or change the ports). As a referance, the help link reads:


The DMZ hosting feature allows one local user to be exposed to the Internet for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming or videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one PC. The Port Forwarding feature is more secure because it only opens the ports you want to have opened, while DMZ hosting opens all the ports of one computer, exposing the computer so the Internet can see it.



Any PC whose port is being forwarded must have its DHCP client function disabled and should have a new static IP address assigned to it because its IP address may change when using the DHCP function.



1. To expose one PC, select Enable.

2. Enter the computer's IP address in the DMZ Host IP Address field.

3. Click the Save Settings button.

Yeah that was my problem, needed to make it static ip. Fixed!
