Default Storm Haven - Secrets of Faydwer

I just wanted to make a post here for anyone who may already own Secrets of Fadwer, or are considering buying it soon to use with the new Emulator updates we have been working on; Secrets of Faydwer is now enabled on Storm Haven. Currently it is in beta testing mode, so it isn't fully playable yet, but most of the basic systems are functioning. Progress is being made daily to improve gameplay and it shouldn't be too much longer before things are looking really good.

So, for anyone who has Secrets of Faydwer and would like to see it working on an Emulator Server, feel free to stop by Storm Haven and create a new Drakkin Race Character. If you make a Drakkin, there is an NPC in Nexus that will port you to Crescent Reach so you can get a look at an example of one of the new zones available since Titanium. The zone is mostly empty now, but I will be adding a few more NPCs in it for testing purposes of hunting, shopping, etc. It is only a temporary zone for now and will probably be customized to be a real play zone at some point.

If you do check it out, you can post any bugs you find that aren't already listed on my forums if you want to help out development:

Also, for anyone reading this that doesn't already have a copy of Secrets of Faydwer, but might be interested in getting it, you can't beat the $4.99 with free shipping deal that newegg has going right now. Get them while they last!

So Trev ... quick question for you since I just ordered the SoF client and hopefully it will come soon (takes awhile for relatives to forward packages overseas sometimes) - looking forward to exploring all those areas I never have seen!

If I install the SoF client, will I need to keep the Titanium client installed for use with other servers? I would like it should work find for the Titanium servers, but since they use different offsets and stuff, maybe they'll be completely different?

i would make a seperate eqemu folder to use the SoF client on because about 3 servers out there are SoF capable at the moment and you wont be able to play on them with SoF

SoF is getting to be very playable and can probably finally be used as a full-time client (as apposed to just using it for testing or playing around) for playing on Storm Haven. All of the important systems should now be mostly functional. There are still some tweaks that need to be made for them all to be perfect though. Also, some of the less important systems aren't functional just yet, but that should be minimal impact to normal play.

Yes, if you are planning to get SoF, I currently recommend that you install it into it's own separate directory and have the Titanium client as well. That will allow you to still be able to play on servers that aren't running the latest code updates or servers that have SoF disabled currently. It will also give you a backup in case you find something that isn't working in SoF and need to log in with Titanium to do it.

Keep in mind that since SoF is still under development, there isn't going to be much content out there that uses the new zones just yet. Currently, the only accessible SoF zone on Storm Haven is Crescent Reach and it is mostly just there so people can get a look at what to expect of the new zones. It isn't fully spawned, but I did add a few mobs to show off a few of the new races that are possible with SoF.

Since SoF is nearing completion, it shouldn't be long before new custom SoF zones start popping up on Storm Haven. I plan to start at level 1 and work my way up to level 70 to have fully custom SoF leveling zones up to level 70. I really can't wait to dig in and start working on the new content and I am sure people will be excited to see it as well. There is no ETA at this time of when that work will be done or even when it will be started. But, hopefully sometime soon!
