Question about MYSQL and setting up

Was following Vale's guide to setup the server and noticed he never mentions what version of MYSQL we are supposed to be using, I have ActivePerl-5.10.0.1004-MSWin32-x86-287188 for Perl but am confused on if I should be looking for a specific version of MYSQL or just grab whatever the current one is. My OS is Windows 7 if it helps in any way.
