Default Getting booted

Quote:
After reading the readme and FAQ, people wishing to only play on other people's server only need 3 things. Download eqhosts.txt, EQW, and your login and password for this bulitin board.
Did exactly what is says.
I am trying to play in someone's server before I try to create my own.
After trying a lot, I managed to make a char in the heliacal.net dev server, and just got to log her on once.
Every time I try to make a char, or log on the char that I made I get the "you have been disconnected" message.

I am using windows 98 as OS, have cable connection. And I don't have a firewall.

Any idea what this could be? It's strange that I managed to log on once but then never again :(

Than you

Try change your datarate to 10. It fixed my problem.

In your EverQuest directory, there's a DataRate.txt file. open it and change 5.0 to 10.0 save it then run Everquest.

I didnt have datarate.txt either, so I created one with a single line,

10.0

but it made no difference either way

This may be the result of a faulty setup on their side, or a problem with your computer's DNS (Domain Name Resolution) if they're using a hostname (eg www.myserver.com) to listen on.

Possibly they've changed some settings recently which broke your ability to connect.

Try connecting to another server to see if it's you or them.
