Default Problem with SoD Client

I've been playing here fine with the Titanium client but wanted to switch to SoD, so i got the download from Amazon and installed fine, I changed EQhost file port to 5999 and added "patchme" to the launcher. I was getting a dx9 error but i installed a new version and that problem went away, but now when i launch EQ a blank black screen loads up for 2 seconds then disappears.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

The only version(s) of SoD verified to work were those downloaded from Steam. Someone posted a few days ago that they got it from Amazon and that it was only around a 600MB download, whereas SoD should be around 7.5GB.

If your SoD directory is only around 600MB or so, that is most likely why it is not working. SOE expects purchasers to run the patcher and therefore they will download all the missing files automatically. This is no good for EQEmu as we are not compatible with EQLive (House Of Thule).

If your install looks good (7GB or so), then you could post your logs\dbg.txt file as that might indicate where the client is failing.

Thanks for the quick response, that makes sense now. Oh well at least it wasn't a big loss, I'll try it from Steam now.

you may also have a resolution issue. EQ is hard wired to run in only standard screen resolutions (eg, 1024X780 or something). If you still crash, try changing your resolution.
