Default boot5zones.bat setup and error code 1017

I have a WindowsXP server and am trying to set it up properly with gotfrags.com, we have sucessfully connected to gotfrags and appeared on their login server list...all 5 ZoneNT zone servers loaded fine and it displayed 5 uesers as being on the server (i presume meaning that it was seeing the 5 zone servers). When we try to connect with the server, though, we get an error code 1017 and telling to re-run update. I've looked at all posts dealing with this error code and none have been of help. Any suggestions?

Default hello

I had this.
you sure the bat files are on yer IP?
and loginserve4r.ini?
ill post all my inis below
yours should look like mine

the bat file(go to edit to change)-this one should be your IP.

start zone9x . 24.60.157.198 9001 24.60.157.198
start zone9x . 24.60.157.198 9002 24.60.157.198
start zone9x . 24.60.157.198 9003 24.60.157.198
start zone9x . 24.60.157.198 9004 24.60.157.198
start zone9x . 24.60.157.198 9005 24.60.157.198
exit
cls

DB.ini use 127.0.0.1 for host

# READ README.TXT!

[Database]
host=127.0.0.1
user=mySQL_Login
password=mySQL_Password
database=eq

Loginserver.ini use your ip on this...ithe 9000 might not be needed for you...

[LoginServer]
loginserver=eqlogin.gotfrags.com
worldname=Foobar's Place
locked=false
worldaddress=24.60.157.198 9000
account=
password=

if you are using a router like me you need to do IP fowarding:
go into yer router admin system i had to 192.168.1.1
think its same with all and go to advanced| fowarding
and do the port 9000-90005
and both types rcp etc....and make sure it reads your internal ip 192.168.1. either 1 or 2 or 1-200?

Caprice -- I think you are hitting the problem area. The reason why I haven't been able to reproduce this problem is that I have been trying the usual file kinds of things.

But here is what I think is happening:

treno's world server is connecting to the gotfrags login server just fine and the login server shows it on the server list. But treno can't connect.

The client is reporting that error, not the server and I believe that it is the cannot connect message. But given that the server is actually running and connected to the login server, it's the router/firewall that is getting in the way.

The zone file has nothing to do with the problem at this point because the zone servers don't get hit until you actually try to enter the game from the character select screen.

**added**

I don't think that I have complete understanding of the problem. I will have to try a test or two.

Treno, are you using a router?
