thats what i'm expecting somebody to say any time now. I have been reading and downloading and trying new stuff for a month now and i have never gotten a server to work. i am expecting someone to say, 'just kidding, we was just trying to see how much time a person would spend going through these boards and changing this and changing that and downloading this and following the same instructions over and over til they finally just give up.' there is nothing in any of the instructions that says anything about the source file that i have downloaded with each new version of the emu that i have tried. perhaps i'm using that file wrong or something. sorry to sound negative, just a little discouraged after a month of changing ip addresses and doing the same old stuff over and over with the same results. the closest i have gotten to get a server to work is after character creation, i get booted back to the choose server screen. is there a good set of instructions out there that dont leave anything out? i just want a local server to play over a lan with my friends. after about 100 hrs of trying i finally posted. thanks for any tips or a full set of instructions.

1) Download the newest binaries.
2) Patch EQ to the latest version.
3) Read the README and follow every instruction!

Might have some problems getting it set up locally, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I suggest you just follow what the readme says, don't do anything extra or read into it too much.
