Legal or Illegal?

Hello everyone. I've looked this topic up all over google, and I still can not get a straight answer. I just joined the forums not to long ago so I probably still have some searching to do which I will after posting this message. But I was wondering if anyone knows, as of today, is it legal to run a private EQ server? I find many mixed messages online and they all seem to point to checking out this site Which is why I'm here. I've been playing for a long time now and I was interested in running a private server of my own. Thank you all in advance for any information that can be useful.
