What is EQEmu?

Ok I've looked everywhere for an explanation and can't seem to find one so maybe someone can help,or knows where to find an answe to my question? What is EQEmu exactly?Is it Everquest?or is it just "like" everquest?Do I use my EQ account and characters?or is it a start from scratch kinda thing?Also if I do use EQEmu will it mess up my normal verant owned EQ? please help me out here.

Okay...1st, if you need to ask what eqemu is you shouldnt use it. you probly wont be able to figure out how to set it up. No not a flame just fact.

2nd, Did you download the software and look at it? spend more than like 30sec looking at posts?

eqemu = Everquest Emulator = Not Real EQ = Your OWN server.

Now I for one wondered what EQEmu was when I first started. I think that is due to the fact that EQ is just so massive though. EQEmu sounds like it emulates EQ which it does to a point but since EQ is both server and client that is where the confusion comes in. So basically EQEmu emulates the server side of EQ. Be nice Dev.

Thank you fo you help claus it's much appriciated.I read the FAQ and everything else on this page before I made this post and I kinda knew what EQEmu was just wanted comfermation,and to make sure I could still play my EQ the normal way and not with Emu all the time but guess i was clea enough in my question,but I got it now thanks ; )

Yeah, dev is a jackass, but the boards wouldn't be the same without his witty and sharp comments :lol:
